Modelling a Mechanical Model
Planning stage:

1.            This robot is constructed 4 separated objects:

-Modeling a Head
-Modeling a Body
-Modeling Legs
-Texturing

2.            These parts can be constructed separated in a scene. The head should be built 1st, follow by the Body, then the Legs and ended by the Texturing.

3.            Identical progress of the model construction needs to be captured for elaborating purpose.

4.            Sketches of front and side view of a robot need to be placed in the viewing panel in order to create a more accurate model.

The Construction of the Robot

1.   Modelling a Head
 a.    The Head part of the robot was created by compiling a few objects, which are capsule, cylinder, sphere and a plane. The entire objects were created separately and then were combined together once all is done.

 b.   Firstly, create a Capsule from Extended Primitives selection. Convert it to editable poly. Choose a polygon selection then remove the upper and below part. Then choose a vertex selection and shape it like a head.





c. To do the eyes, had to create a 3 sphere. For the first sphere convert it to editable poly then select the middle part and remove it then create another sphere and put it in into the first sphere. After form a suitable eye shape creates a last small sphere as a pupil. Then clone the eye after it's done.




d. Then, for mask shield, create a plane from Standard Primitives selection. Convert it to editable poly then make it half around of the capsule then go to modifier list choose symmetry and mirror it to get a half sphere shape. To get an above section of the mask shield make it using edges and vertex selection. After that put a small cylinder on both sides beside the shield. And lastly make a cylinder in another big size as a neck.




2.   Modelling a Body
a. As modelling the head, the body also has different parts that are created by compiling a few objects. It such a cylinder, tube and line.

b. For the first part, create cylinder. Convert to editable poly then make an adjustment of the shape by uniform scale and using edges selection to make it small and slightly tilted up at the bottom of the body.



c. The bottom of the body was created using a line. Select create and then shape and choose Line for making the shape of the body. Then go to the modifier list and then choose Extrude to extrude the shape that was created just now. Adjust the amount and the segment at the parameter to get the perfect body shape. Convert it to editable poly, choose edge selection and chamber the side edge.



d. For the hand, I also used different type of object and the combine it together. The entire object was converting to editable poly and then changes the shape through edge and vertex selection. Then clone it to get a pair of hand.





















3.   Modelling a Legs

a. Started this part by creating the shoes first. Choose box from Standard Primitives selection. Convert it to editable poly then adjust the vertex selection same like the picture. Choose polygon selection highlight the centre part above of the box then remove it.

After that create another box, convert to editable poly then adjust the vertex selection the go to modifier list and apply TurboSmooth.



b. Then choose tube and capsule to make the leg part. Convert to editable poly then adjust the shape.



c. Using the same step that create the shoes, make the upper leg part using a box.

After done combined it, clone n make the other part of leg. The complete leg.




4. Texturing
a. Set the color of robot.
b. Setting the lighting.

c. Once the Lighting setting was, the final output of a render image was created.
